Kaleidoscope means a complex pattern of continuously changing sequence of a bright and changing vision.

The Kaleidoscope Africa Program is a summer program that brings together people from all over the world to get hands on experience in the African corporate world, as well as share in MCDF'smission and vision of establishing and promoting programs and strategies that empower and effect a continuous, sustainable and positive change in our communities.

The program aims at working with the Action Partnersand taking them through a six week program that will give them an opportunity to be innovative, and realize their novelties by working with different corporate organizations in fulfilling their corporate social responsibilities (CSR).

Kaleidoscope Africa will also give the Action Partners a chance to experience Kenya and its beautiful scenery, a package incorporated in the 6week program.

Action partners are individuals and groups from different parts of the world who come together to enact positive, equitable and sustainable change in the communities. The program gives the Action Partners the opportunity to contribute in many creative ways and supports their professional growth.

  • Kaleidoscope Africa will give the Action Partners hands-on experience and learning through apprentice. They will get a chance to work with various Kenyan corporates to fulfill their social responsibilities.
  • Chance to dedicate oneself through hard work and help the less fortunate communities hence create positive change in the world
  • The action partners will get to come up with projects that they hold close to their hearts, and with the support of the rest of the action partners and MCDF team, we will work together to make it a reality.

  • After participating in the Kaleidoscope program, Action Partners will be part of Kaleidoscope Africa Alumni. The Alumnus will be mentors of new Action Partners and will be partly sponsored by MCDF to come back to the country.
  • We strive to achieve a network of Action Partners around the world and maintain the network through constant communication and ensuring a strong bond is created during the Kaleidoscope Experience.
  • Certificates of participation will be given at the end of the summer program.


Kenya is situated in the east of Africa, bordering the Indian Ocean, north of Tanzania. Kenya remains a popular tourist destination in the world, given its world famous wildlife attracting Safaris – the country has numerous wildlife reserves containing thousands of animal species; with the most popular being the "big five" of Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino and Elephant . The country is also a popular touring destination given its exotic reef-lined beaches on the coast of the Indian Ocean. The country has numerous wildlife reserves.

With a population of approximately 41 million, Kenya is rich in culture, from a diverse 42tribes, with a very warm people proud of their heritage and always ready to share it with the rest of the world. Action partners will get the opportunity to apprentice and work with some of Kenya's most successful entrepreneurs.

Kenya enjoys a tropical climate, with hot temperatures and humidity along the coast and the north and north eastern parts of the country being dry.


Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya, Popularly known as "The Green City inthe Sun". It is one of the cities in Africa that boosts prominence politically and financially. It is home to many international organizations and companies, and thousands of Kenyan businesses, therefore It has many parks the most famous being the "Nairobi National Park". It also has plenty of open spaces and gardens that make walks around the city amazing (especially when business hours are over). Nairobi enjoys a moderate climate with sunny days and cool evenings.


Mombasa is the second largest city in Kenya, a major trade Centre and home to Kenya's only large seaport. With its picture perfect view of pure white sandy beaches, but also for its exotic marine life and, breathtakingly vivid rainbow colored coral reefs, Mombasa has become one of the most popular holiday destinations. The atmosphere is relaxed; the people are friendly, with a heterogeneous cultural mix. It has a warm, tropical climate, specifically a tropical wet and dry climate.

The Community

Get to meet the delightful people of the Kayafungo community, and get absorbed in their humble day to day lives. The locals at kayafungo have arranged a "Community Welcome Ceremony" on that first day, a colorful event that will give you an introduction into their culture.

Registration Information

Trip organization and pre-departure support

After receiving your expression of interest, Kaleidoscope program officer will keep in touch with you and give you detailed information about Kaleidoscope Africa program. The officer will keep a strong relationship with you even when you are in the country.

E- learning

With the Apprentice program, you will be required to do understand the Kenyan Corporate World, and for you to achieve this, we will hold online short discussions. Each action partner will have to identify a corporate that he/she will identify its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) and need. After reporting the action partners will work in groups and each AP will have to defend his corporate of choice to the rest of the team members so as they focus on that.

Secure a position in the Kaleidoscope program

Kaleidoscope Africa Program is taking place for the first time in Africa, and hence we are looking for a small number to be the pioneers of this noble idea. With the few slots, Kaleidoscope Africa Application process will be very competitive hence we will give a chance to those people who meet the application requirements and hence pay their registration on time.

Program Cost

Visa Advisory

Soon your application is accepted and you register, a welcome letter will be sent to you from our organization. You will then be given advice on what you will be required to get a Kenyan visa and the process to follow. Please note that Kenyan Visa application vary with countries. Please note that this does not include Visa Fee.

Airport pick up & drop offs

Once you book your flight ticket, we will require you to share your flight details with the program officer so as we arrange your airport pick up at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). On your arrival you will find our staff at the airport waiting for you. On your departure, we will drop you to the airport if you will be leaving the country immediately after the program.

Local Transport

During the Kaleidoscope Africa Program, you and the team you will be provide with transport to visit corporates. You will also have the opportunity to experience a ride on the Kenyan public service vehicles 'matatus' on weekends in the company of one or more of our staff members.

Accommodation and meals

We will provide you with accommodation during your stay in Kenya while under our Kaleidoscope program. Meals will also be provided. Please note that we will have a welcoming dinner and also a send off party at the end of the program.


Our accommodation is a house setting with shared rooms. It is designed to provide an atmosphere of sharing, interaction and socializing, while also providing adequate space for personal time and space. The interactive and social environment enables you to spend time with people of similar interests, to get to meet new people, and just a great place to unwind after a long day of hard work. We take security seriously; hence our houses are located in very secure neighborhoods. Depending on the houses, the rooms are spacious and are shared typically between 2 to 4 people

Cell phone and a Kenyan mobile line

You will be given a mobile phone, phone charger and a Kenyan number that you will be required to register on the second day after your arrival. This will be cheaper for you to communicate with your family members at home, team members and our staff. At the end of the program, you will be required to give back the phone and charger in good condition.


With the rest of the group, you will go for a safari for three days two nights to one of the Kenya's best destination. More information about the safari will be given while you are in the country.
